Students' Union Evaluation Initiative...

Newcastle University Students' Union is proud to be part of the Students' Union Evaluation Initiative (SUEI).

What is the Students' Union Evaluation Initiative?

The Students’ Union Evaluation Initiative (SUEI) is an assessment model that assists in improving the services and activities delivered to members of the Students’ Union by not only acknowledging areas that we excel in, but also highlighting areas for improvement.

Why are we doing it?

We want you to leave university having had access to the best Students' Union facilities and services in the UK; and being a member of SUEI is a step towards ensuring that not only do we hit that target, but that we continue to achieve it the future. Coupled with your feedback and our membership with SUEI, you can rest assured that your Students' Union is not resting on its laurels, and that we're always working to provide you with exactly what you need.

Why the Students' Union Evaluation Initiative?

Whilst SUEI is great for a number of reasons; the one that we particuarly resonate with, is their focus on you, the student.
It works because it:-

  • is member focussed
  • concentrates on outcomes
  • measures how well the Union make connections with its members
  • measures the impact on students, the University and the local community
  • measures the democratic and value driven aspects of the Students’ Union
  • recognises the dynamic changing membership of students’ unions
  • is flexible to accommodate the individual differences between Unions and the needs of their members

Where is NUSU currently in the process?

The Students' Union was audited in October 2011, and we are currently awaiting our results. Initial feedback was very positive with the Union being assessed as very strong in 7/13 categories assessed.

Thank you...

A very big thank you to all of you who took part, either in providing feedback or attending the member groups at the audit itself.
