Apply for a 2013/14 School Rep position now!
The second round of Applications for the 2013/14 School Rep positions are now open! The purpose of the School Rep role is to lead change and ensure that students in your School or Institute feel that their voice is being heard. You will do this by attending faculty student experience meetings with other School Reps from your faculty and then highlight changes and progress that has been at these meetings to Course Reps in your school or institute.
You will also play a crucial role in helping Newcastle University Students’ Union (NUSU) in our commitment to support and represent students in their academic lives. There are also plenty of opportunities to develop your skills and play a leading role in the support and development of student representation at Newcastle University.
Where appropriate, each school will have a minimum of two School Reps, one taught (representing UG & PGT students) and one research (representing PGR students). Each FMS Research Institute will have one School Rep position per School. We have already appointed a number of School Reps for 2013/14, so check to see if the role you are eligible to apply for is still available in the available positions page.
For more information or to apply, visit the application process page or email George (rdc.union@ncl.ac.uk).

Hi, I’m Rachael and I have been elected by the students as your Education Officer for 2012/13 representing all students on academic issues, both locally and nationally. The main part of my role is ensuring that the student voice is at the heart of the academic experience here at Newcastle. I do this by attending senior level University meetings; giving student opinion to develop positive changes to all things education. This literally encompasses everything from employability through to feedback and blackboard!

I also oversee the Course Rep system here at Newcastle – Course Reps are the official voice of students at a course level providing the essential link between students and staff. Course Reps are elected at the start of every year to represent your views about your course and they are able to raise any matters relating to your course and can keep you up to date on any issues within your School or Department. Being a course rep is a fantastic opportunity and a real way to influence change. If you fancy getting involved then please click here for further information or get in touch. If you are already a course rep, I must say a big THANKS and keep up the good work!
If you ever want any more information or just fancy coming for a chat and a brew, my office is the Representation and Democracy office on the ground floor of the union - come and say hi!
