► What to expect from Course Reps

Course Reps are the crucial link between you and the students and staff on your programme. They are trained to use all appropriate methods to gather feedback from their cohort. They attend Staff Student Committee (SSC) meetings, at which they communicate the views of the cohort on everything about the student experience, from the curriculum to the common room. Following the meeting, the Course Reps will give feedback to the other students on what has been decided. Students then have the opportunity to give their opinion about these decisions, for the Course Reps to feed back at the next meeting, or informally to you in between meetings if this is more useful.

In addition, if you are planning changes to modules or would like feedback on any aspect of your programme, you ask your Course Reps to canvass student opinion and be confident you will get an open and honest response.

Once elected, Course Reps are all offered training by the Students’ Union. As well as covering the basics of what needs to be done before, during and after meetings, the training emphasises the importance of completing the feedback loop and of presenting an accurate, balanced representation of the views of the whole cohort, not just individual opinions.
