► How the Students' Union can help

There are many ways that the Students’ Union can help you to implement the Representation Policy in the way that is of greatest benefit to you and your students.

The Students’ Union:

• Offers training to all Course Reps;

• Provides role-specific training for Chairs and for Faculty Reps;

• Sends a regular Representation Newsletter to all Course Reps including forthcoming training and events, available positions on University committees, Course Rep achievements, and anything else you ask us to include;

• Organises an annual Course Rep Conference to share good practice, provide additional training and development, and celebrate the achievements of reps;

• Is always available to speak to individual students or staff about individual issues or any aspect of the representation system.

In addition to these things, we can:

• Attend induction talks to promote available Course Rep positions;

• Provide you with slides to present yourself at inductions or in lectures;

• Offer guidance on how to facilitate an election;

• Attend Staff Student Committee meetings as requested, either to talk about the representation system in general or for specific things e.g. to help you find a student chair of your Staff Student Committee.
