Introduction to Night Events

Freshers’ Week would not be a true representation of student life or Newcastle without a variety of events showcasing what the city's nightlife has to offer. With amazing headline acts, and tonnes of fancy dress we are certain there will be something to keep you all entertained.

Throughout the week you will be given tours of the city, taking you to all the best student hotspots, including the best bars, clubs, restaurants. Events will include live music, DJ's, comedy nights, grub crawls ensuring you get to choose what suits you. Large-scale themed events will be based at both the fully-refurbished Student Union, along with some of the best bars and clubs that Newcastle has to offer so make sure you have your fancy dress ready - details will be released nearer the time.

Grub Crawl’s

Sunday 25th September and Tuesday 27th September
Meet at the Students’ Union for 7pm (First venue - 7:30pm)

A guided tour of some of Newcastle’s tastiest venue’s, sampling some of the best food on offer!
We will stop at one restaurant for your starter, exploring another taste-sensation giving venue for your main and to top it all off - a delicious dessert in our final destination. All completely free with your wristband!

The Sound of Music at the Theatre Royal

Monday 26th September
Meet at the Students’ Union for 6:30pm (Show starts at 7pm)

Direct from a sell-out run at the London Palladium, The Sound of Music tells the story of the von Trapp family's flight across the mountains and works its magic once again, for young and old alike. The unforgettable score includes some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage including My Favourite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Climb Ev'ry Mountain, The Lonely Goatherd, and of course the glorious title song The Sound of Music.

The Magnets Live! at The Sage

Monday 26th September
Meet at the Students’ Union for 6:30pm (Show starts at 7:30pm)

They are the singing secret that the stars have kept to themselves, the vocal group with a word-of-mouth reputation for spicing up the parties of supermodels, heads of state and billionaires with their blend of razor-sharp harmonies and jaw dropping beatboxing. But now, after selling out London’s legendary Roundhouse, a series of electrifying festival appearances and a starring role in the latest T-Mobile flash-mob advert The Magnets are emerging as one of the must see acts on the current British music scene.

Pub Quiz

Tuesday 27th September
Meet at The Hancock for 8pm

A firm favourite with Newcastle students, ‘The Hancock’ will be hosting a pub quiz from 8-10pm. Not only does The Hancock have great food and drinks deals, it is also conveniently located right next to the Robinson Library!
 

Ghost Tour

Tuesday 27th September
Meet at the Students' Union at 8pm

Discover the darker side of Newcastle on this night time ghost tour. Find out the wildest stories and wickedest humour that lurks around Newcastle. Using real ghost hunting tools you will be entertained with the most gruesome details on crime, witchcraft, plague, hangings and suicide within the Newcastle surroundings. A careful blend of fascinating history and distinctive humour, culminating in a genuinely terrifying experience 

Comedy & Acoustic Music

Wednesday 28th September
Show starts at 7.30 inside the Students’ Union
 
Come and enjoy two of the UK’s fastest rising stars perform at your Student Union. Their stand-up gig is a sure fire hit with students.This amazing evening is followed by some acoustic live performances by some of Newcastle’s local student talent.
