Casablanca had Rick’s Café; The Simpsons had Moe’s Tavern; Cheers had…Cheers; and Newcastle has Mens Bar!

Derived from ‘Mens Agitat Molem’ (Latin for ‘Mind Over Matter’); Mens Bar started life early in the 20th Century and has become synonymous to anyone who has walked the corridors of Newcastle University Students’ Union. After years of faithful service, November 2010 saw the bar join the rest of the building in an £8 million refurbishment, to turn it into a place where both students and the general public could enjoy food and drink in a comfortable environment.

Re-opening in September 2011, and keeping its original name (as voted by the students); Mens Bar now features:-

• 225 Capacity

• Variety of food including pizza, salads and cheesy chips 

• Wide range of draughts, bottled beers and spirits 

• Sky Sports live on screens throughout the bar area

• Entertainment including acoustic nights, pub quizzes and more!
