There are a number of reasons why you may choose to work whilst studying, but the most common is financial. Given the high levels of student debt, as well as the current economic crisis, this is completely understandable. Services in place here at Newcastle University include the Careers Service and SCAN (Student Community Action Newcastle), an organisation based in the Students' Union who offer volunteering opportunities.
External services in Newcastle include the JobCentrePlus, which is the government-run job database, where you can search for local job vacancies.
