► St Cuthberts Care

What: St Cuthberts Care is the largest social care charity in the North East and is committed to supporting vulnerable children and families, adults with learning disabilities and older people. We are driven by the need to challenge social injustices and for over 60 years our work has improved and enhanced the lives of many thousands of people. Our Purpose is to ‘enable people to develop to their ’personal potential’ and to this end we have over 40 different projects across the region which specialise in providing services in areas of greatest need. Our work includes Children and Families, Disability and Older people.


Volunteer Roles:

Gardeners – to help weed and maintain the gardens based at the Alan Shearer Centre. Times to be agreed.

Charity Bus Volunteers – to support our clothing distribution bus as it travels across the region to various destinations. The bus is parked at the Alan Shearer Centre and travels across the region stopping at planned destination points.

Clothes Sorting Volunteers – to support the charity distribution bus.

Reading Volunteers – to read to residents at our nursing home for older people based at St Catherines West Road.

Training/skills/benefits:

With all volunteer roles candidates will be provided with the opportunity to work with and gain experience of the following areas; disability, older people, social care, community work

All volunteers are provided with appropriate training as necessary.
