► SCAN - Inflatables

What : A group of SCAN volunteers take SCAN’s Inflatable play structures (large bouncy castle & small bouncy castle/ballpool) to local primary schools and special schools. The idea of the project is to provide entertainment, enjoyment and personal growth through play for the children in a safe environment monitored by their teachers and SCAN volunteers, basically we put up the bouncy castle and let the kids jump about on it!

Requirements : Volunteers transport and set up the inflatables in schools and then entertain and monitor the children whist they play. In a typical session up to 5 classes (100 children) will use the equipment. Volunteers need to be willing to work as part of a team in helping transport the equipment, set it up and return it to SCAN. Volunteers must enjoy working with and interacting with children of all ages. Drivers who are over 21 with 2 years driving experience who can confidently pull a trailer are particularly sought.

Training : The equipment involved is extremely heavy and therefore difficult to manoeuvre – SCAN offers training in the correct use of all equipment and in manual handling techniques. Volunteers will also receive training in SCAN’s guidelines for working with children.

Skills Acquisition : Teamwork, interacting with children in a school setting, problem solving and organisational skills.
