What:
Amnesty International : We are ordinary people from around the world standing up for humanity and human rights. Our purpose is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied.
Amnesty Bookshop : We raise funds and awareness of amnesty international through the effective retail of donated books.
Volunteer Roles:

1. Shop work: Include serving customers, cash handling, till use, customer service, basic housekeeping tasks, re-stocking, merchandising, answer telephone, take messages etc.

2. Stock room roles: Include rough sorting of books (once trained), pricing, categorizing, cataloguing.

3. Online sales: We are due to start selling books via Abe an online marketplace, there will be roles taking photographs, descriptions, research, cataloguing, packaging for postage.

4. One off event help: We are hoping to get stalls at a number of one off events such as book fairs and cultural events such as the Mela. This will largely be profile raising or selling pre priced books.

Skills Acquisition:

Volunteers will learn customer service skills, online marketing, antiquarian book knowledge, general people skills and working with other volunteers to understand the dynamics of teamwork.
We offer a basic fire training done on a computer and will be looking to put volunteers on a first aid course.
