What: Scotswood Natural Community Garden is a beautiful two-acre site with wildflower meadows, ponds, woodland, orchards and vegetable plots. We run an innovative education programme giving children and families a chance to interact with, learn about and from nature.
We offer a wide range of environmental education activities for visiting school groups including pond dipping, environmental art and bushcraft activities. We run a well-attended, weekly outdoor parent and toddler group for local families. We also offer local schools a full forest school programme, working with the same group over 10 sessions, using the outdoor environment to build confidence, self-esteem and learning potential.
Volunteers required in the following roles:
Volunteer Education Rangers: We are looking for volunteers to help plan and deliver these sessions, to develop resources for the programme (such as pond dipping ID sheets etc), and to undertake work in the garden to create the structures we need to support these activities.
Marketing volunteers: We also need volunteers to undertake work on our website and Facebook page, notice boards and to develop publicity materials.
