You've found the Societies webpage which means you're half way to knowing and being a part of one of the fantastic opportunities that NUSU has to offer students...an experience, a hub of activity, fun and making the best friends for life. These all encompass what it is to be part of a society, don't delay in enhancing your time here at Newcastle University and take a look at all the fantastic Societies already awaiting your membership. Give it a go, you never know what your next passion might be! And with over 140 Societies to choose from, it's most likely you'll find something for you. And if there isn't, well, what's stopping you from starting your own? Nothing! From performance based, to course focused, religion centered to quirky take a look at the huge list of Societies we have.

My name is Ania Kurek and I am your Activities Officer for this year 2011/12. You can find me in the Activities Centre on Level 2 in the Students Union. I am here to help you. Whether you're a committee member, a member or a new student wanting to find out more, I want to make sure you have all the information you need. As they say, the sky's the limit and that's what all Societies at Newcastle should aim for. With the fantastic shiny new Union now all yours, it's the perfect opportunity to host events, have meetings, start socials, recruit new members, be recruited as members and get a feel for what is on offer.

Regular events include HomeMade Jam, an acoustic night for any budding singer/ songwriters and performers. Get in contact if you're interested. IFAM- International Festival of Arts and Music takes place in March. A fantastic opportunity to take part in or watch a showcase of culture, dance, drama, music and comedy. I want to hear all your ideas too. Any idea is worth talking about so come and have a chat with me about it. The NCL+ awards congratulate all students and societies who have excelled throughout the year, an excellent opportunity to boast about just how AMAZING your Society is. Finally, the finale of every finalist's year is the Grad Ball and I'm the lucky one who gets to organise it. Be prepared for the best Grad Ball ever!
