Katy Hargreaves - 2011/12 Welfare & Equality Officer

Hello! I’m Katy Hargreaves and I have been voted by the students to be your Welfare and Equality Officer for 2011/12. I represent the student body (that’s YOU) on anything to do with your wellbeing while you’re at Newcastle University. This is anything and everything…so if you have any questions on housing and estate agents, finance issues, mental health issues, sexual health or sexual wellbeing issues I’m your girl!

I work with an open door policy and I also have a specific drop-in service (Wednesday 12-2pm) where you will definitely be able to find me at my desk. You can drop by and talk to me in confidence about anything. I offer a great listening ear, peer support and I'll be tell you where the best place is to get your problems efficiently sorted asap.

I will also be running loads of campaigns throughout the year. Campaigns are a fantastic way to get involved with SU, meet like minded people and get your voice heard! Some of my own campaigns which I will be running this year will include sexual health, housing issues and a mental health awareness week, along with any upcoming issues that affect the student body. If you have any ideas for a campaign or if you would like to just get involved with any throughout the year please pop in or email me; they are all great fun and fantastic for your CV.

I am fun, friendly, non judgemental and always here to help, everything you say is 100% confidential and taken seriously. My job is to listen and support you when needed and to make the changes you want so please drop by and have a chat anytime. Have an amazing year!

Take a look at the side bar on the right...it has lots of basic information for your reference. This doesn't mean that you can't come and talk to me about these issues.
