Renting a House

Living in rented property is a huge part of student life and can be an amazing experience - but it can also be extremely complicated! Don't rush in to signing contracts - make sure you have all the right information first so you can make an informed decision about where you want to live... and who you want to live with!

Our Student Advice Centre has a specialist housing advisor, Ruth Gibson, who can look over contracts before you sign them if she is given 48 hours' notice. She can also advise you on any queries you might have, from deposits, to difficult landlords, to blue-tack marks!

Every year, we hold a Housing Information Week called 'Don't Panic, Don't Rush In' to inform students about the process of renting a house and the do's and don't's of being a tenant.

We produced a booklet with NUSU's invaluable top tips for renting a house. Please check it out below.
