PG Recommended Welcome Events

Welcome to Newcastle! I'm so excited to meet our new (and returning!) postgraduate students. It's been a weird summer trying to prepare for the new academic year without having students around to engage with and make it feel real. I love the start of term and even though it's going to look very different this year, hopefully I can do everything possible to make it a good one for you all. Over the last month I've been working hard to create a calendar of events for our Welcome To NUSU activities programme. I can't lie, it's been a bit of a nightmare trying to grapple with latest government guidance, local restrictions and working out what is possible and, most importantly, safe to do. As much as I would have LOVED to put on a full programme of in-person events and activities, with the situation being as it is with strict local restrictions on household mixing, I have had to move the vast majority of these plans to be virtual events. I know it's not the same and it can feel like virtual events are scratching a different itch to in-person events, but I'm doing my best to make it as fun and engaging an experience as possible. Here's what we have coming up with a sneak peek at some of the prizes and freebies I've been sorting out just for postgrads...
