Hi I'm Aimee Seddon and I'm running for Editor of the Courier. I want to improve student engagement across campus and these are my four main aims: distribution in halls, play NSR in appropriate cafes around campus, include coupons in The Courier and improved socials with writers. So Vote Amy for Editor.
Hello, my name is Ella and I’m running to be your Editor of the Courier.
I have been involved in the Courier for three years, so I have kind of developed quite a few ideas so I’m just going to go through some of my main campaign points.
One of my main aims for my campaign is to improve the relevance of the paper within the student body and expand it from the student media bubble to a more widespread array of students. We know that Blind Date is one of the most read parts of the paper, so I think it deserves its own section, so I want to have that in a relationship section with things as well like an Agony Aunt and a Campus crush.
I also want to include the writers more, so I want to extend socials to writers as well as editors of the paper and have writer feedback sessions, workshops and things like that.
I really want to focus on appreciating student talent so things like I want to have a pull-out culture section as a more magazine style part of the paper so that will hopefully provide people with more freedom to express their creativity in things like photography, illustrations, poetry, fiction as well as just the article writing.
There is loads more in my manifesto so please give it a read and feel free to drop me a message if you have any more questions or suggestions.
Hello, I’m Joe Holloran and I’m running to be the Editor of the Courier for the year 2021.
I’m a Ma Media and Journalism student here at Newcastle University, I did my undergraduate here in Media and Journalism as well and these are my ideas for what I would like to do if I am your editor.
First of all, I would like to introduce a revolution in involvement in student media here at Newcastle University this is including a new international news page for all our international students.
A Your Voice page for students from all walks of life here at University whether they are disabled, neurodiverse, lgbt so each week they can have their own voice heard in the paper.
And finally, a massive expansion of NUTV to include more live coverage of sporting events, debates, societies, major goings on at the University
And finally, my main pledge is to work with the academic staff who I know from my course to implement training and skills workshops in media for all students regardless of what course they do.
Hi, I’m Molly Greeves and I would love to be your next Editor of the Courier.
I want the paper to improve student life by conducting investigations and interviews that hold your university to account. I want to feature the talents of not just writers but artists, photographers and social media managers. I want to give you a head start in the journalism industry by providing talks, feedback and workshops. And last but not least I want to reduce the courier’s impact on the environment. For a better courier and a better uni vote Molly, number 1 for editor.
Hi, I’m Rebecca Johnson, I’m running to be your next Editor of the Courier.
Here are my manifesto points. Number one, I’d have a bigger online presence for the Courier. Number two, I’d have more cross collaboration between all branches of student media so that’s the Courier, NSR and NUTV.
I’d have more investigative journalism and encourage more students to take the opportunity to hold the university to account and I’d also have more coverage for sports and societies
Hi, my name’s Rory and I would like to be your next Editor of the Courier.
I’d like the Courier and student media as a whole to involve as many people as possible so that it makes it as easy as possible for everybody to be involved.
I want the Courier to keep up to date and therefore I would like to implement social media managers as well as social media members of the editing team.
I would also like to implement wellbeing across all strands of student media, this is also really really important. Thank you very much for taking time to watch this video. If you’d like to find out more please have a look at my manifesto. A vote for Rory will mean a vote for everyone. Thank you very much
