Alumni Achievement Awards

PLEASE NOTE: In these unprecedented times, we need good news and stories of excellence more than ever. For this reason, while we may not be able to host awards ceremonies in the real world any time soon, the Celebrating Success Awards nominations are still going ahead, and we really hope you’ll spend a few minutes telling us about the brilliant students you know!

The Alumni Achievement Awards are Newcastle University’s annual awards scheme in acknowledgment of the outstanding achievements of our graduates. We are extremely proud of the contributions our graduates make to society and wish to recognise their exceptional efforts. We regret that for the Alumni Achievement Awards, self-nominations and nominations from relatives will not be accepted. Nominations from alumni of Newcastle University, current students and current staff will be accepted.

This award recognises an alumni Rising Star, up to 10 years from graduation, who is making impact in their workplace, industry, community or on University life.

This awards recognises alumni at any point from graduation who meet any of the following criteria:

  • Alumni making an outstanding contribution to business/industry.
  • Alumni making an outstanding contribution to society/community life.
  • Potential to inspire the next generation of current and prospective students.
  • Demonstration of involvement with the University, particularly through volunteering.

This past year has been one none us could have predicted or planned for, and the changes that this global pandemic have forced onto us all are many and varied. However in times of adversity there are always people who step to the fore and bring positivity and big changes to help others out. So this year we’re including a special category of awards – an award that recognises outstanding alumni support during the Covid-19 Pandemic. This category is to recognise those students and alumni who have made a real difference in combating the virus in the past 12 months. From frontline workers to researchers and from teachers to heads of business, you can nominate alumni who have been at forefront of pushing back Covid-19.
