Talk: A brief exploration of Unconscious Bias
We would like to invite you to a raising awareness talk being given by Dr. Pragya Agarwal on Tuesday, the 2nd February from 12.00 - 13.00pm, exclusively for NUSU staff and students. This talk will be a whistle-stop exploration of Unconscious Bias, all the while offering invaluable insight into how we can begin to overcome this, thereby benefitting our professional and personal lives.
We live in a time where there is an exigent need to embed equality, diversity and inclusive (EDI) practice within our professions. Not only are these our organisational values but we also see this reflected in the year-on-year work of our excellent Officers' team. In addition to this, our student body have voted EDI as a top priority for running NUSU campaigns. Currently, we are in the beginning stages of setting up a robust and evidence-based set of EDI policies and staff training modules.
Dr. Pragya Agarwal is a behavioural and data scientist, consultant, and author of ‘SWAY: Unravelling Unconscious Bias’, and ‘Wish we knew what to say: Talking with children about Race’. For more information, please visit Dr. Pragya’s website - https://www.drpragyaagarwal.co.uk/
Zoom links will be updated on this event closer to the time.
