Self-care Sustainable Craft
Come and join us for our self-care and sustainable craft event led by our wonderful self-care officer, Caelainn and resident craftswoman and eco-warrior, Ceri! This event is part of our campaign ‘Climate Change is a Feminist Issue’ and will focus on turning rubbish into something beautiful!
In this session, we will be making upcycled candle holders and vases so all you need to do is keep your jam jars, wine bottles or any glass containers that would otherwise end up in the recycling. You can use anything you like to decorate with, for example, paint, ribbons, string or even pressed flowers and leaves. The idea of this session is to be creative with whatever you can find at home or in nearby nature. This event will be super laid back to really focus on some self-care and to also feel at one with nature as we make an effort to be more sustainable and environmentally conscious. There will also be an opportunity for discussion about our campaign this month and to share tips and tricks on how to be more sustainable at home in our day to day lives!
Things to do:
Save any jam jars/ wine bottles/ glass wear
Collect bits and bobs for decoration e.g. string, pressed flowers, fabrics, felt tip pens, paints, newspaper- anything you can think of!
Feel free to bring your own sustainable craft ideas or projects as well as this one!
We can’t wait to see you there!
Please access the link to the zoom call 15 minutes before the event begins to allow time for technical issues or uncertainty using the system.
The link will be sent to you prior to the event. And if you are a FemSoc member, then there will be a link on our Facebook group. Please download the zoom app on your phone or computer. The link will redirect you to a screen where it either asks you to log in through your personal account or add the name you want to show up on screen. You will then be allowed into the zoom call by the event leader. For further info, the university has made a guide on how to use Zoom:https://videoconferencing.ncl.ac.uk/zoom/
Please use headphones where possible, as this will make communication easier between all members and help those with hearing difficulties.
If there are any accessibility concerns we have not covered, please contact us at email@example.com and we will do our best to support you in your participation.
Are you planning to get involved with any clubs or societies this year to make the most of your time at university?
If so, you may be eligible for a £200 cash bursary to help towards covering the costs of getting involved- such as membership fees, sports centre/gym membership, kit and social activities. Information can be found on the NUSU website
