[FULL] CBT Group Workshop 2: Managing Worry and Uncertainty
This workshop is delivered by the Newcastle University Psychological Therapies Training & Research Clinic. Postgraduate study has less structure than other study programmes, which leaves lots of room for uncertainty – about the right way to do things, the right topics to study, how you are doing, whether to keep going when you’re not sure you’re cut out for it... This is at best unpleasant, but can also lead to worry and self-doubt. This workshop focusses on understanding why worry grows in the presence of uncertainty, and how we can manage uncertainty and worry differently to limit their impact on how we feel.
This is a 2 hour workshop that aims to modify ‘how we think’ rather than ‘what we think’. It includes exercises based on evidence-based principles to help you explore responding to worry and uncertainty in a different way. In the workshop you will:
- Hear from other students and their experience of uncertainty and worry through their postgraduate degree
- Understand what worry is
- Understand uncertainty and explore our ‘tolerance’ to this
- Practice exercises to manage worry and uncertainty differently
Unfortunately, this event is now at capacity.
