[FULL] CBT Group Workshop 3: Refocusing After A Setback
Online - via Zoom
This workshop is delivered by the Newcastle University Psychological Therapies Training & Research Clinic. Things don’t always go to plan in postgraduate research and opportunities don’t always work out the way you hoped. It’s understandable to feel dispirited, especially after a run of set-backs. This workshop focuses on the impact of setbacks on how we think and feel about ourselves, and how that can impact on our motivation for work and our general wellbeing. It explores ways of understanding the impact of setbacks on us and how we can manage differently to get back ‘on track’ as best as possible.
This is a 2 hour workshop that aims to modify ‘how we think’ rather than ‘what we think’. It includes exercises based on evidence-based principles to help you explore responding to setbacks differently. In the workshop you will:
- Find out about typical setbacks and common responses to them, as experienced by Postgraduate students
- Hear from other students and their experience of setbacks and what helped them
- Understand why we respond the way we do to setbacks
- Learn and practice different ways of responding to setbacks that can reduce their impact on us
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
