In these sessions you will get the opportunity to practice mindfulness meditation; a well-evidenced practice for reducing stress, improving focus and enhancing resilience and well-being. The sessions will be experiential and are open to everyone with or without prior experience of mindfulness meditation.
Sessions will be facilitated by Michael Atkinson and Dr Jessi Komes.
Michael is from the School of Medical Education, whose current research is in mindfulness and resilience and the impact of mindfulness on our ability to make decisions. He has more than 20 years of experience in mindfulness, is a professional mindfulness teacher and regularly runs sessions across the University.
Jessi Komes is a lecturer in Psychology and a psychotherapist (i.TR.). She trained as a yoga and meditation teacher over a four year period (880hrs). She is trained in mindfulness-based and other approaches to help psychological stress management and increase wellbeing. Sometimes she likes to complement the mindfulness sessions with poetry or a quote to inspire the abstract mind and speak to the heart.
