Workshops for Traditional Turkish Arts & Turkish Society Information Stand

 

We the Members of the Newcastle University /Turkish Society want to represent and further greater sense of our culture among all students at Newcastle University. This event has two main functions; 

1st : To represent and give information about rich cultural legacy of Turkey.

2nd; We want to share our passion about our traditional Turkish Arts with organising two workshops on Tezhib (Islamic illumination) and Calligraphy

 

 

Programme

Tezhib (Islamic illumination, on 14th June 11:00 – 13:00, max 8 people)

Calligraphy (on 15th June, 11:00 – 13:00, max 6 people)

Turkish Society Information Stand (on 16th June, 13:00 – 15:00)

 

We are grateful to our workshop instructors (Esma Ugurluoglu and Üsame Altuntas) for leading the workshops. For their exemplary artistic work, you could check their Instagram accounts; @esmarengizdesign  &  @turkish.calligrapher.

 

All workshop participants provided with necessary tools and participants would keep their practice materials ?.

 

Tezhib (Islamic illumination ) Workshop; Participants initially learn how to produce borders of a sketch on a paper, then they need to paint it with dyes.

 

Calligraphy Workshop; Participants needs to practice on initially on paper, and then they pass to write their names on a plate.
