Walker SOUP is a quarterly, democratic micro granting dinner, where members of the community can come along, make a donation on the door and enjoy an evening of entertainment and food. This week’s event will include Christmas carols by St Mary’s School Choir, crafts and activities for the kids, a Christmas market where Walker locals are selling their home-made crafts, a Christmas meal and a visit from Santa Claus. But between all of this, 3 projects & ideas are pitched by the community. The audience then votes on the project they think will benefit the Walker area the most, and the winner receives all the entry donations to fund their project.
Walker SOUP is on 6th December at St Anthony of Padua Community Centre on Welbeck Road in Walker. The event runs from 5-7pm, with access from 4pm to set up (and doors opening at 4:30pm) and we aim to be cleared up by 7:30pm.
We are looking for a few volunteers to help with general tasks at the event. This could include serving food and drinks, setting up the room, greeting members of the community, supervising the kids crafts, taking photos, helping clear up or any combination of these. Contact Phil if you would like to help out
