Brief Description of Society Activities

- Promote the interests of Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery amongst members of the society and students. 
-Provide an opportunity for members of the Society to meet and participate in surgical based activities together, with an emphasis on orthopaedic skills. 
- Assist in the safe education and introduction of students to Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery through the use of talks, events, practical skills sessions and courses through experienced members. 
-Provide a hub for medical students and junior doctors interested in a career in trauma and orthopaedic surgery to engage in the speciality  
- Organise and host guest talks related to the specialty. 
- Improve members understanding of T&O surgery as a career option. 
- Guide and support enthusiastic medical students with an interest in pursuing a  
career in T&O surgery. 
? Provide educational benefit to members through a variety of activities, including but not limiting to lectures, talks and practical events for members. 
? Organise tutorials and workshops to allow students a chance to learn or improve surgical skills and try first-hand some techniques used by orthopaedic trainees & surgeons 
? Encourage and foster connections between T&O surgeons and students 
? To provide members with links to T&O departments in and around Newcastle for the purpose of mentorship and involvement in projects 
? To encourage members to partake in local and national events such as conferences and surgical education days. 
? To form and strengthen ties with national organisations such as the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association (BOTA) and the British Orthopaedics Association (BOA), as well as with companies & industry within the specialty. 
? To organise and host the inaugural National Undergraduate Trauma & Orthopaedic Conference in Newcastle
