We are a brand-new society created for anyone with an interest in cyber security.
We hope to provide interactive sessions to deliver topics based around ethical hacking and cyber security which will allow you to practice your skills and techniques in a safe, supervised environment on real hardware and systems. You'll learn techniques a range of techniques, from basic to advanced, such as securing your digital footprint to gaining access to secure Wi-Fi networks. There's something for everyone – you don't have to be a tech-genius to join! Currently, committee members hold professional certifications in cyber security, networking, and cloud architecture.
We want every member to feel involved, so if you have a particular interest or skillset, we encourage you to share your knowledge to other society members. We hope to provide monthly events allowing members to showcase their own work, whether it be research or projects.
Some of the events we are keen to run are:
- In house Capture The Flags and King of the Hill Competitions
- Local trips to cyber security conferences
- Guest speakers from Industry
- Community outreach events to increase Newcastle’s Cyber skills
- Cyber socials
So, whether you are a professional ethical hacker, or whether you just know how to make a strong password – there's something for you to get involved in!
We hope to have events at least every fortnight.
