Wind Band

Society Activities

Newcastle University Wind Band is a brass and woodwind ensemble for musicians to play familiar music in a relaxed setting.  Percussion and string bass players are especially welcome.

We perform a variety of concerts each year - for example, this year we played at Alnwick Gardens.  We play a wide range of fun music from all genres:  from Stevie Wonder to The Dam Busters March, as well as the classic film scores such as Pirates of the Caribbean and The Incredibles.

We meet once a week for an hour and a half, so it's only a small commitment.  We are open to musicians of all abilities from all courses. There are no auditions; each instrument has different parts with varying levels of difficulty.

We also keep an active and varied social calendar including pub quizzes, nights out and meals out.

It's never too late to join in.  If you are interested, either contact us or come along to a session and hopefully we can persuade you to join!

Meeting Days, Times and Venues

Rehearsals are on a Tuesday evening from 5.00 p.m. - 6.30 p.m.  The venues for rehearsals are either The King's Hall in the Armstrong Building or the Church of St Thomas the Martyr, Haymarket.

Extra concerts take place at least once per term.
