The Eldon Society is open to all students, regardless of their degree. As such, we organise regular career and networking events for both legal and non-legal fields. We also organise a wide range of legal competitions: client interviewing, mooting, negotiating and advocacy. They all offer fantastic prizes from our sponsors, such as a week’s worth of work experience with a top legal firm. Eldon, along with several professionals, offer training and support throughout to enable members to develop their skills, improve their confidence and enhance their CV.

Eldon currently has its own rugby, football and netball teams which play against other Schools, legal firms and at national level. All members are encouraged to come to our try-outs at the beginning of the year and we’re always open to the possibility of starting new teams if there’s enough demand.

As one of Newcastle University’s biggest societies, we host a wide range of fantastic events such as the Freshers’ Welcome Party, Boat Party, and Christmas Party. Two events that have proved particularly popular year after year are the annual Law Ball and the holiday. Eldon has been to Barcelona and Amsterdam, and we have big plans for this year! We also want to provide more relaxed and regular socials such as beach trips, comedy nights and bowling. We also have our own Welfare and Charity weeks.
