We are Newcastle University's branch of the national Friends of MSF network, which supports Médecins Sans Frontières (aka Doctors Without Borders) through raising awareness and funds for their vital work across the world.
MSF is an independent international humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency medical aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters or exclusion from health care in more than 60 countries around the world. In emergencies and their aftermath, MSF provides essential healthcare, rehabilitates and runs hospitals and clinics, performs surgery, tackles epidemics, carries out vaccination campaigns, operates feeding centres for malnourished children and offers psychological support.
We hold events such as MSF guest speaker talks, film nights, pub quizzes, open mic nights and conferences, all to raise awareness and fundraise for the incredible work that MSF does. There is also the opportunity to attend national conferences and events run by other university branches.
