Brief Description of Club Activities
Kendo is a modern Japanese martial art, which descended from swordmanship (kenjutsu) and uses bamboo swords (shinai) and protective armour (bogu). Today it is widely practiced within Japan and many other nations across the world.
Kendo is an activity that combines martial arts practices and values with strenous sport-like physical activity. It is fit to practice for people from all ages and genders.
Newcastle University Kendo Club aims to introduce the martial art of Japanese sword to the broader student community.
