Here at Newcastle University Archery Club, we welcome those who have never picked up a bow and arrow in their lives, all the way to the very experienced archer - shooting competitively and just for fun!
During semester 1 we will be shooting at 18m indoors 4 times per week. In the second semester we aim to have a 90m outdoor range.
Beginners courses are held several times throughout the academic year to introduce new members to the sport – after the 12 hours of coaching (split between 3-4 sessions), you will become a novice archer, receive a certificate of your training, and be able to shoot at the range during the scheduled sessions! Details on how to sign up for these will be given through our weekly email.
For those archers wanting to shoot competitively, we have various competition opportunities for both novice and experienced archers, ranging from local friendly competitions to NEUAL (Northern England University Archery League), and even BUCS (British University and Colleges Sport) championships.
Shooting in semester 1 will focus on training for the indoor season, in semester 2 we will be focusing on training outdoors for the outdoor season.
The club has a lot in store for 2021-2022, including a variety of socials and themed shoots, tailored to circumstance. So, come along, have a go, meet some new people, and have a great time at Newcastle University Archery Club!
