Brief Description of Club Activities

We are a High Performance rowing club of equal opportunities that sets out to compete at the highest level possible. We train hard up to 15 times per week and are successful at university (BUCS), national and international levels. Training involves a mix of land-based activities such as weight training and on the ergometer, alongside water-based sessions on the Tyne. Our social events include sober socials as well as formal dinners.

Meeting Days, Times and Venues

Usual training consists of twice per day, at either the Newcastle University Sports Centre or at the boat club in Newburn. This happens before lectures start in the morning and after they finish in the afternoon.
At weekends, we are usually at the river in Newburn between 8am-1pm, and on Wednesdays we are there from 2pm. There are no pre-requisites for joining NUBC, provided people are prepared to train hard, everyone is welcome.
In the 2020-21 season we are disappointed to announce that we unfortunately do not have capacity for novices to join the club, due to the current COVID-19 restrictions that are in place. Our learn to row programme will hopefully return next year, and we look forward to seeing you then.
