Jiu Jitsu is a traditional self-defence martial art based around using throws, joint locks and strikes to control an opponent and take them to the floor. We are a friendly club that welcomes everyone - no previous experience is needed and new starters can join us at any time throughout the year. We've been working hard to adapt our sessions to allow us to continue training in a safe manner during the ongoing COVID-19 global health pandemic. To begin with, we're hoping to host training sessions and socials online via Zoom. We then plan to return to socially-distanced training sessions at the University Sports Centre as soon as it is safe to do so. It costs £10 to join our club for the full academic year, and this includes the cost of your membership with our sport's governing body The Jiu Jitsu Foundation. Once we return to in-person training sessions you will need to buy a membership with the Sports Centre to be able to get inside the building for our sessions. Online Training sessions (coming soon): Saturday 11:00 - 12:00 Monday 18:30 - 19:30 Sign up to our "Jiu Jitsu Club - Fresher's Fair" mailing list for info on how to join our free taster sessions via Zoom once we're up and running. In-person Training sessions (currently on hold): Saturdays + Mondays, times to be confirmed For more updates from our club, follow us online on Facebook and Instagram: https://www.facebook.com/newcastleunijitsu/ https://www.instagram.com/NewcastleUniJitsu/
No experience needed, new starters always welcome.
