2017 – 2018 Activities Assistant (Give It A Go)
Part time, up to 10 hours per week, term time only for the academic year 2017-18. The roles require flexible working including evening and weekend work.
Part-time posts: up to 10 hours per week, 13 weeks of term in Term 1 and 9 weeks of Term 2
Hourly Pay rate will be at £7.05 per hour – rate: AO.
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified person to be appointed to a position within Newcastle University Students’ Union.
The person in this post (along with two other part-time staff members) are responsible for delivering the Students’ Union’s comprehensive programme of one-off sporting, social, sporting and cultural events and activities, as part of the Give It A Go programme.
Based out of the Activities Centre, the post will provide support to the Activities Programme Coordinator, who coordinates the Give It a Go programme. This will involve delivering sport and other activities sessions, promoting the programmes, signing students up and engaging them, and some coordination of sessions.
The holders of these roles will be required to attend a number of activities sessions each week within the programmes, and as such, the hours will be split over a number of days in short shifts, attending events and delivering promotion on and around campus (they will not be one or two long shifts). As such, candidates will need to be flexible with the hours they can work. Typical shifts would include Mondays 17:15-19:00pm, Thursdays 11:30-14:30pm along with other daytime, evening and weekend shifts.
The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, organisation, and communication skills, be very friendly and approachable, and actively seek engagement with other students. Experience of organising events and activities is essential and the successful candidate must be able to work on their own initiative..
