NUSU Statement – Daniel Wood

Newcastle University Students’ Union (NUSU) is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Daniel Wood. Not only was Daniel a student at Newcastle University, he was also one of NUSU’s Students with Disabilities Officers and President of the Disability and Neurodiversity Society. Daniel was a tireless campaigner for students with disabilities, playing an integral role in facilitating a series of positive changes over the past year. Daniel leaves a lasting legacy of a more accessible University for his peers and successors.

Beyond being an exceptional colleague, Daniel was held in incredibly high esteem across the institution and was a friend to many of us. All of our thoughts are with Daniel’s family and friends at this difficult time.

He will be deeply missed.

The Student Wellbeing Service are available to provide support for any student who needs it at this difficult time.  Their contact details can be found on their website.  A direct line to the service is available on 0191 208 3333
