Register to vote in the Local and Mayoral Election

How to register before April 12th

On 2 May 2019 there will be a local election as well as an election for the North of Tyne Combined Authority.

It is totally up to you if you vote, but if you do then all the information you could ever need, visit our local council website.

How to register to vote

You can now register to vote online in as little as 3 minutes on the GOV.UK website. All you need is your name, address, date of birth and National Insurance number.

Why should I register to vote?

If you don’t register, you can’t vote. Registering to vote means you can vote and have your say in local and national elections. The electoral register is also used in Credit Referencing when buying some items, such as mobile phones, or opening a bank account.

How can I find out if I'm registered to vote?

You can contact our Electoral Services department.

Phone: 0191 278 7878 (and ask for Electoral Services)
