Staying Safe and Supported after the July 'Freedom Day'

Some messages of support and safety for students.

Going back to the new 'normal' can be daunting

At NUSU, we recognize that the recent easing of restrictions will bring you all differing levels of excitement and comfort, and may leave you with some anxieties around your responsibilities toward others in these new times.

For those of you planning a big night out, you can pick up a free lateral flow testing kit from the Students’ Union building reception - just bring your student card along with you. We suggest taking a test before going out so that you can be more assured that you are protecting yourself and those around you. While nights out are a well-deserved good time, it’s important to look out for yourself and one another.

We also appreciate that the idea of going back to ‘normal’ can be daunting, and we want you to know that, if you are experiencing difficulty at this time, there is always support here for you. This support could take the form of a counselling session with the University Health and Wellbeing service, an instant message to our Nightline team during term time, or a chat on the phone with a Samaritan.
