Unite & Student Roost pledge to compensate students after Open Letter

Dorothy Chirwa (Students' Union President) and Chris Day (Vice-Chancellor of Newcastle University) have written a letter to private accommodations expressing concerns over students' financial positions.

Following on from the letter that Students' Union President, Dorothy, & Vice-Chancellor, Chris Day sent out to housing providers asking for assurances to support students in regards to rent payments, here are some of the responses they have had so far:

  • Unite Students are offering a compensation package details of which can be found here.
  • Student Roost are providing a six-week rent refund. If this applied to you, you can apply for this refund by the 25th January by following this link.

Dorothy Chirwa (Students' Union President) and Chris Day (Vice-Chancellor of Newcastle University) have written a letter to private accommodations expressing concerns over students' financial positions in light of the new lockdown situation. This involves calling on providers who have contracts with Newcastle University students to offer their residents similar assurances to University-managed accommodation services - which is to allow students to pause payments for their University accommodation until they return.
