  • Dr. Glen Rae ‘My U20 World Cup’, 7pm-8pm, Dental Lecture Theatre, Newcastle University

Dr Glen Rae, a current sports medicine consultant and lead of the medical department at Sunderland FC, talks about his recent mens U20 football world cup experience. He looks at the differences between the day-to-day requirements of sports medicine at an international tournament and club football.

  • Heartstart First Aid Training, 7pm-9pm, The Lounge, NUSU

Taught by Newcastle LINKS Society. Heartstart training teaches you what to do in a life threatening emergency. You will get a certificate of attendance which looks great on your CV. The course covers a range of British Heart Foundation Accredited Emergency Life Support (ELS) Skills, including: • Cardiac Arrest • Suspected Heart Attack • Choking • Serious Bleeding • Defibrillation • Dealing with an unconscious casualty.

A series of 'pick & mix' skills workshops open to any student wanting to improve their chances at interviews/applications for jobs. All the skills are specifically chosen as they are exactly the type of competencies employers demand evidence of when recruiting.

Thursday 26th October

  • BBC Antiques Roadshow, 8:30am-6pm, Civic Centre

Volunteers need to be willing to commit to the briefing the day before at 3.30 in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre, as well as the full day of the event from 8.30-17.30/18.00.  At the briefing volunteers will provided with all the info you will need - so all volunteers will be fully briefed and each role fully explained.

The roles with the BBC will involve assisting visitor arriving to the Civic and the event, other roles will include escorting visitors around to the different disciplines and expert tables etc.

You must be over 18 and available to attend the briefing on the 25th and physically able to carry out the agreed tasks.
