It Happens Here have won November’s Society of the Month! Although they are a new society, having only been ratified at the end of last academic year, they have had a huge impact on campus. They have collaborated with other societies to organise charity events and raise money for Rape Crisis.
They have given out various freebies to students such as anti-attack belts and anti-spiking bottle toppers as well as leaflets containing a list of important contacts for survivors of sexual assault.
The society is currently working with the University on the ‘Everyday Sexism’ project to help gain statistics for sexual harassment on campus. This will help the University implement new strategies. The committee have received training and in the New Year they will be starting their peer support groups for survivors of sexual assault.
The society have had a great start to the year and have plenty of events planned for 2018 so keep an eye out!
It Happens Here have received £100 for their hard work, so make sure you nominate your society to be in with a chance of being December’s winner!
