Volunteering with Action Tutoring is an easy and rewarding way to make a difference to the lives of young people living in your community by supporting for just one hour a week.

We are looking for students and graduates to volunteer as either English or maths tutors (you don't need to be studying English or maths for your degree) in one of our partner secondary schools across Newcastle.

You will have the opportunity to select which school you would like to volunteer at, depending on its session time and its location.  You’ll be paired with two or three pupils, provided with workbooks, and attend every week at the same time to support them.

We can reimburse your travel expenses up to £5 per session and can potentially organise a taxi from campus if there were a number of Newcastle University students tutoring on the same programme.

Tutoring is a great way to gain some valuable work experience, whether you are interested in a career in teaching or just looking to enhance your CV.  We are now recruiting for our programmes beginning in November.
