Gateshead Council are looking for volunteers to provide a befriending and support role for the victims of anti-social behaviour.  You may have been a victim yourself and have the time and flexibility to help others who have faced similar situations.  Or you simply want to help others in your community.  If so, our Anti-Social Behaviour Volunteer service could be for you.

Set up to offer vulnerable victims the additional support they might need, the service involves you completing an online training course together with an induction sessions, where you will meet key agencies including Northumbria Police and The Gateshead Housing Company.

You will provide telephone support to the victim on a regular basis and will be provided with a mobile phone to do this.  You will also complete an evaluation form at the end of your involvement with each victim.

We need you if you are:

  • a good listener
  • friendly and patient
  • impartial and non-judgemental
  • flexible and reliable
