Supporting disadvantaged school pupils with Action Tutoring

A new academic year is on the horizon but what will this bring for the pupils who have lost many hours of learning due to the pandemic? At Action Tutoring, we believe that every pupil can reach their potential, given the right support – and that family background shouldn’t be a barrier to accessing this. We’re working in primary and secondary schools in Newcastle, and across the country, to give pupils in disadvantaged areas the support they need in maths and English – the key subjects for accessing more learning and future opportunities.

We’re always looking for new volunteer tutors to help us support these pupils, and tutoring is a great way to build experience, cement your own knowledge, and contribute to your local community. Our tutors range from 18 to 84 years old and come from a variety of backgrounds. Each one has their own experience to bring to the role. Why not volunteer with us in the autumn? You don’t need to have done any tutoring before as training, materials and support are provided. Tutoring can be online, or face-to-face in schools.
