Moving Parts Arts is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to get involved in delivering ‘Tyne Rising’ - a large-scale, Covid-safe outdoor theatre spectacle show, which will take place in City Stadium, Newcastle on the 21st and 22nd August 2021. The show will be centred around environmental issues, promoting a positive message to treat our oceans with respect. ? 

This ambitious, specially-commissioned outdoor theatre event will feature large-scale puppets and design elements, as well as original live music. But to make this show even more special?we need the help of a team of enthusiastic volunteers to help deliver the event.?  

This will be a wonderful opportunity to be involved in a unique piece and gain experience working on a professional outdoor theatre production of this scale. This project will be fun, community-focussed and an exiting experience to take part in.? 

Stewarding 

  • Assisting audience members to their designated seating areas 

  • Ensuring social distancing guidelines ?are being kept 

  • Keeping up communication between box office, front of house and backstage 

  • Answering and assisting audience members questions, or direct them to the correct person them to the correct person.? 

  • Helping with the get out day after the show (taking down sets, packing up equipment) 

  • Assisting audience members with specific access needs (the site has specific areas for wheel chair access)? 

  • Safe Guarding Training level 1 offered? 

  • Opportunity to work on a large scale outdoor arts event, working with the public and seeing how live performance events take place. 

Box office 

  • Working face to face with the public/audience members you will be the first pint of interaction so a positive, happy and polite atmosphere is needed to be created. 

  • Checking tickets (all tickets will be pre-sold) 

  • Keeing up communication between box office, front of house and backstage 

  • Answering questions and reminding audience members to keep t the social distancing rules. 

  • Assisting any audience members with specifically access needs 

  • Helping with the get out day after the show (taking down sets, packing up equipment) 

  • Safe Guarding Training Level 1 offered 

  • Opportunity to work on a large scale outdoor event, working with the public and seeing how a live performance events take place. 

Puppet Making Workshop Assistants 

Puppet and costume making for TYNE RISING (with Moving Parts Arts) Join a team of volunteers guided by the director and experienced team of puppet makers to make some beautiful works of art for the live outdoor event Tyne RisingÂ?You can sign up for as many days as you can, those who can do more will get more in-depth puppet making tutorials 

  • Work with professional puppet makers and artists 

  • Hands on crafting making puppets and costumes 

  • Being part of a community project 

  • Working in a professional a performing arts environment 

  • Safeguarding level 1 training available 

  • References and photos of creations can be used in future applications 

For all people taking part, Moving Parts will provide lunch on the dress rehearsal (20 August) and show dates (21st and 22nd August) and everyone will receive a limited edition Moving Parts t-shirt for taking part. We will have a professional film crew working to create a digital film version of the show, which will also be available to all participants to use in any future show reels or applications.? 

Due to the scale of the project and to main our safeguarding policy, all volunteers need to be aged 18+ by August 2021.
