The University is looking for a number of students to be the student representative on a wide range of commmittees and activities across the University. These committees can work on projects ranging from who should come and deliver public lectures to ensuring the quality of the courses across the University. There are places on the following committees:

Learning and Teaching Review Visits (LTR)

Role and duties

As a student reviewer, you will be a full member of the review team. You will have input into all aspects of the review and you would be expected to chair one of the team’s meetings.

Duties include:

  • To prepare for the visit by reading through the documentation in advance
  • Approximately 2 weeks before the review visit: to attend an initial team briefing to discuss potential themes and avenues of enquiry emerging from the subject area’s SWOT analysis and other documentation
  • To participate fully in the review visit (approximately one day), contribute to team discussions, highlighting any issues of concern or particular examples of good practice, and help to summarise the key items to be included in the review report;
  • To comment on and indicate your approval of the draft review report;
  • To comment on any factual correction to the report requested by the relevant subject area

For this review the panel will need to travel down the day before. 

University will cover the cost of travel and accommodation and an evening meal  provided the night before the review and the review day itself will be fully catered.

We will need one student representative for each review, ideally a student from the same Faculty (but not the same school).  All student panel members will receive a £50 voucher in recognition of their service.

HASS Faculty Library Committee

The HASS Faculty Library Committee are looking for one undergraduate and one postgraduate student from any school within HASS to represent a student perspective on all aspects of library provision and help advise the Robinson Library on priorities and strategy across HASS. 

There are two meetings a year:

  • Monday 9th October 12 noon in the Robinson Library Committee Room
  • Date for second meeting yet to be confirmed.

ULTSEC Innovation Fund 2017/2018 Strategic Projects Review Panel

The University Learning, Teaching and Student Experience Committee Innovation Fund awards funding to projects working on the development of new or innovative approaches to learning and teaching and to enable their dissemination across the University.  The fund are looking for 3 student reps to join the review panel for the 2017/18 Strategic project funding applications.  As a member of the panel you will gain an insight into exciting new learning and teaching projects at the University, and this is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate and develop your communication and reflective skills.

Library Advisory Group

The Library Advisory group is a key group that looks at helping the library to improve its services with a focus on:

  • the development of the Library services consistent with the University’s strategy and the plans and priorities of Faculties
  • the needs and priorities of users of the Library
  • the Library’s cost-effectiveness and fitness for purpose from a user perspective
  • any other matters relating to the nature or quality of service provision.

It also acts as a forum for discussion of developments in the Library and the broader information environment.

There are two meetings per year of the Group.

Review of External Examiner Reporta and Board of Studies Responses for HaSS Faculty

HaSS Faculty needs student representation to sit on two groups to look at the Board of Studies responses to External Examiner reports. The students would need to read through External Exmainer reports and attend a meeting that looks at either all the UG or all the PG reports and Board of Studies responses. Each group needs a UG and PGT student from the Faculty (the student can come from any school).
