The Entrepreneurs Society have had a very busy month. We welcomed Ben Towers, an entrepreneur who is now mentored by Sir Richard Branson, to speak to our members. He also joined us afterwards for some drinks at the pub!
Ben was only 13 when he started his first business, he then became the first person to employ themselves in their own business as an apprentice under the age of 18 and thus allowing him to leave full time education.
It was a great opportunity to hear from such a talented entrepreneur here at Newcastle University.
We also are running an on-campus round of the HULT Prize. The UN competition with a grand prize of $1 million. The HULT Prize is the worlds biggest student competition and the event at Newcastle offers a great learning experience for our members, learning how to set up and prove their concept before pitching to judges.
The winner of the HULT Prize round in Newcastle will then be fast tracked down to the Regional Finals in London where they will represent Newcastle University on a global stage.
The committee has worked very hard this month in order to put on such a large, 2-day event and balance their study deadlines.
