BAME Committee - Apply Now!

Apply to join the BAME Committee today!

Hi there! Are you a Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) student who is passionate about making a difference in the world? Would you like to combat and bring awareness to the issues that BAME students encounter? Then you’re the perfect candidate for the BAME committee! The committee’s aim is to:

  • Address and tackle issues that BAME students face.
  • Celebrate the beauty of BAME cultures and reduce the stigma around these cultures.
  • Be an avenue of support for BAME students.
  • Help organise and run relevant events

The roles currently available are:

  • Secretary
  • Social Media Team
  • Blog Writers

Each role holder will also be expected to attend monthly meetings to discuss potential campaigns which will be achieved through a collaborative effort. In these meetings, I would also like to create a space in which students in the wider university committee can feel comfortable to bring awareness to issues that affect them as a member of the BAME community as well as suggest areas which they believe should be focused on.

Joining the committee will be a rewarding experience not only because it will look great on your CV, but it will be a role that benefits others. If you are interested in joining the committee, please email bame.union@newcastle.ac.uk with a minimum of 200 words detailing which role you would like to fill and why you would like to join the committee. Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns that you may have!
