Could you be our next Ethics and Environment Rep?

Would you like to represent Newcastle University students on ethical and environmental issues?

NUSU Represent students on Ethical and Environmental Issues

Would you like to represent Newcastle University students on ethical and environmental issues?

Social responsibility, sustainability and effectiveness are three of NUSU’s key values. Helping NUSU achieve these values, the NUSU Ethics & Environment (E&E) Rep works with students and on behalf of students to push forward with NUSU’s sustainable values, ethical responsibilities and each of our individual roles as global citizens.

So if you have an interest in climate change and sustainability, like to campaign and have time to attend NUSU and University meetings, we want to hear from you! Time commitment (average over period of office): 1-2 hours per week. Click here (page 20) for the full role description or find out more here.

The election for the 2021/22 NUSU Ethics & Environment Representative will take place at the next meeting of NUSU Student Council which will take place on 20 May 2021. If you would like to run in the election you can come along to the meeting and let us know that you will be nominating yourself. You may also want to have something prepared to let other students at Council know why they should vote for you – just a general overview of your experience, interests and why you are running – as during the meeting there will be a section for elections during the meeting and the Chair will call for you (and any others running for the role) to stand up and give your short speech. Should there be more than one student running for the position, following the meeting members of Council will be asked to vote on who they would like to be in the role next year with the winner announced once all the votes have been counted.

If you believe the role is for you, make sure you come along to NUSU Council from 5.15pm on Thursday 20 May 2021. You don’t need a voting place. You just need to inform gocouncil.union@ncl.ac.uk before 5pm on 19 May 2021. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can nominate yourself via email here by 5pm on 19th May, stating you would like to run for the position of Ethics and Environment Rep and a few lines on why you are interested in this position.

Please get in touch with any questions.
