Matt & Olivia presenting their report

NUSU Students With Disabilities Officer, Olivia Bucknall, and NUSU Education Officer, Matt Price, have been hard at work over the past few weeks completing their report on how to improve the satisfaction of students with disabilities at Newcastle University. On Wednesday 1st June, they presented their findings to staff at the University Learning, Teaching and Student Experience Committee (ULTSEC), one of the University's most senior decision making bodies for academic matters and issues relating to the student experience.

Having spoken to students with disabilities from across the University, Olivia and Matt put forward a series of recommendations on possible improvements to pastoral support, academic support and learning resources, as well as suggestions relating to how learning and teaching at Newcastle could be made more inclusive. Staff will now look into ways of implementing these recommendations.

Olivia and Matt would like to say a big thank you to all the students and staff who helped with the research process, whether it was by attending the Students With Disabilities Forum, completing online questionnaires, or via email. Without your contributions, they would not have been able to produce such a detailed report!
