Who are we?
TJ: My name is Trimanjot Singh Anand or TJ from India and I am a Stage 2 MBBS student at NUMed Malaysia. I am the President of NUMed Debate Society and the External Relations Officer for NUMed Student Association. I also sit as a Formal Voting Member in NUSU Student Council.
Adarsh: I'm a 3rd year medical student studying at NUMed Malaysia, but I'm from down under in Australia, ironically from a city called Newcastle! This is my second year as the NUMed School Rep, and I'm looking forward to another great year ahead and to representing you all once more.
What is our role?
As School Reps, we keep ourselves up to date with the issues raised in SSCs and we make sure the student feedback reaches the higher authorities. We represent student voice in various committees like Board of Medical Sciences, FEC etc. we keep NUSU updated with students issues and current happenings. In the nutshell, as school reps, we are determined to make a change and improve student’s academic experience.
What do we want to achieve?
We started our term by organising the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Forum to understand the cohort’s ideas and opinions on EDI issues, after which we proposed to introduce another Student Representative position of EDI rep which would express student’s concerns and EDI related cases to the The NUMed EDI committee. We are also working with NUIT to upgrade the current Newcastle App for NUMed students, improving their student-life experience.
